Why Phoenix Coyotes will win the Semi-Final Series against Nashville Predators –NHL Playoffs Special
Phoenix loves to win and honestly, who doesn’t? What makes the Coyotes different is their way of winning and their thirst of taking the match into extreme situations which the other team most of the time is unable to play in.
Coyotes have grabbed some great skills along the way to where they are now in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoffs against Nashville Predators. They adapted to playing as long as a match could go with five of six
matchups being decided in overtime against Chicago Blackhawks along with Game 1 of the semi-finals.
There are rarely any teams out there with the same ability to handle such pressurised situations as Phoenix Coyotes are able to do, making them the best team in the NHL when it comes to discussing the postseason.
Phoenix showed how disciplined of a team they were with 4-3 victory in Game 1 and followed up with more improvement as they took Game 2 as well with a 5-3 win, leading the series with a commanding 2-0 lead now.
The one thing that allows Phoenix to continuously improve is their mentality of not going easy after a much deserved victory. The Coyotes do not celebrate after a win, they rather work more on improving their game for the next competition and do not rest
until the competition is out for good.
"Game 2 was obviously a better game than Game 1 for us, but we feel like there's still upside in our game," Phoenix head coach, Dave Tippett, said. "We were able to get to the net and score some goals but there are still some issues. I think we can defend
better. The adjustments we have to make going into Game 3 that hopefully continue to improve our game."
Working players from each line has provided Phoenix with the respective depth needed according to the situation and giving equal ice time to each player has allowed them to be accustomed to the game and strategy being played out on the rink.
"If you look at it, we don't really have matchups," Tippett added. "Everybody plays against everybody and everybody's expected to do the job and those guys have done a heck of a job for us. Not just giving us quality minutes; they're creating chances.”
Mike Smith, Phoenix’s young superstar goalie, has been outright amazing in net as he outplayed the 2010 Stanley Cup winning goalie against Chicago Blackhawks and is now making Pekka Rinne work for his money in the semi-finals.
He will be the factor in Phoenix winning not only this series but the Stanley Cup as well with Coyotes stepping up their offence now knowing that Smith is there to cover.
Phoenix won all three games at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, during their quarterfinal series against Blackhawks and now with the series against Nashville Predators headed to the Bridgestone Arena for Game 3 and 4, it will definitely be interesting
to witness Coyotes work their magic.
