  1. Because there are people in the world with it spelled both ways therefore unless people look it up they will commonly write Lindstrom

  2. just to make you mad

  3. You're completely right and yet I see it and hear it all the time. It's ridiculous. Even my mom makes that mistake occasionally and she's one of the biggest hockey fans I know. And my aunt still does it despite having bought me a Lidstrom jersey. Somehow it just makes more sense to them.

  4. Maybe because he spells his name wrong and people are right and he's wrong. There are over 20 entries for Lindstrom on Wik but only 1 Lidstrom. Therefore he's probably wrong and everyone else is right.

  5. Linden + Lidstrom = Lindstrom?

Haha, I don't know.  People are just ignorant.  I can't tell you how many people think Travis Zajac is Travis Sajak like the Wheel of Fortune guy.

Or maybe Lidstrom's never corrected anyone.  Before last season, everyone pronounced Toni Lydman as Lid-Man.  He corrected them to tell them to pronounce it the Finnish way - Lude-Man.

  6. I can't think about that now i'm still trying to figure out why every one says "Backstorm."  don't get me wrong the name back-storm is tight and all, but my god how dyslexic can you get?

  7. Those that keep misspelling Nick's name must be brain dead!

  8. cause some people cant speak rite

  9. People are ignorant and aren't true hockey fans.

playboyperry509:  Actually Hasek is pronounced Ha-shik

  10. Because they can't spell.

  11. Because believe it or not, people are humans and therefore make mistakes.  Please let me apologize for everyone's ignorance and the fact that not everyone can be as perfect as you my lord.

  12. One answer.... they only pay attention to Hockey when its the playoffs, therefore not knowing his name or spelling ... just what they believe it to be. Either that, or the schooling system in this country keeps getting worse and worse.

  13. Same reason why everyone pronounces Hasek "Ha-shek" instead of "Ha-sik"...they are not from Europe!

  14. Ignorance.

  15. Such is life for a foreign player in any league. Lidstrom (Swedish) is an easy one compared to Eastern Europeans and Russians.

  16. Lindstrom means "Lime Stream" in Swedish.

  17. I guess because they aren't Swee-dish or not from Dee-troy -it.

However, I can pronounce Krajicek and Bieksa.  I'd hate it if you didn't.  In my books, I would then question if YOU were a fan of the sport.
