Rabbi Eric Yoffie is head of the Reform movement. This is what he said:

"We cannot cooperate with the Christian Zionists, said Rabbi Yoffie, because theirs is not “unconditional support for the Jewish state”, but rather support for a certain political agenda — one that is unacceptable to Rabbi Yoffie. "

  1. Most American Jews are pretty suspicious of the support Israel gets from the Evangelical Right. Politically, most Jews are on the complete opposite side on most issues. The only point of agreement is on Israel where the Evangelical Christians have their own agenda as Israel is seen as key to bringing about Armageddon (a good thing to them). So his support was rejected by that rabbi because of the motives behind it and his statement on the Holocaust being God's will was the last straw.

  2. The Jews always smack way the hand that would help them.Even God says they are a stiff necked people.

  4. I think Rabbi Yoffie was wrong. To understand his response, one needs to understand that the Reform movement prides itself on its liberal approach to religion and social issues. John Hagee, on the other hand, represents a religiously fundamentalist approach to these issues. As such, the Reform movement and Rabbi Yoffe as its titular head, feel obliged to reject John Hagee's views.

  5. Because its not real - it would change on a dime if the political winds change and this guy would become as easily an anti-semite as he is anti-catholic.

    Good Luck!!!
