  1. totally disagree .

  2. i disagree. think of the times when slavery was legal, what do YOU think about that?

  3. "as long as" are always false.

  4. I think it's a delicate balance. As a general rule, the government tries to make laws as ethical as possible (except in third-world countries). But there's always going to be some contention.

For instance, one definition of ethical is 'conforming to accepted standards of conduct'. In society, it is generally not accepted to carry a weapon in public. However, in much of Canada the only restriction placed on bladed weapons is that you cannot carry one which opens by centrifugal force or pressing of a button.

So, technically, it is legal to carry a knife as large as you want around with you wherever you go. Is THAT ethical?

  5. The purpose of teh law is to prevent the harmful, not necessarily the unethical.

Therefor a significant possibilty for unethical methods exists within the law.

  6. What are ethics but a set of rules?

What are laws but a set of rules that society has validated?

If you feel we should hold ourselves to some higher standard,

who is to agree on what that standard must be?

If a Retailer becomes known for behavior that his customers won't

accept, (generally accepted Ethics), he's out of business.

If some retailer told you what the deal was, and you took it,

and now regret it, take responsibility for your mistake.

  7. There can be a lot of 'grey areas' & loopholes within the law ~ so, no, I wouldn't agree, & some laws may not be ethical.

  8. Without going into details,I would say there are always situations

that involve loopholes the law doesn't cover. In that case I would say

that people have to use their own judgment. Sometimes things that are

    legal are definitely not ethical.
