Why Roy Hodgson deserved the sack and why Kenny Dalglish is the right choice – Part 2
On his return to the hot seat, Kenny Dalglish has nothing to prove, especially in terms of tactical astuteness. That is more vital when things are going along smoothly and one needs to eke out something extra tactical.
The scenario at Anfield is far from it. Under current circumstances, a positive attitude and mind set could work wonders for everyone associated with the club. All Kenny needs to do now is to let his players play positive football and erase the negativity
that has been associated with the club under Roy Hodgson. He will have to sort out the way to do all this all by himself.
Some sections of the media and fans of other clubs are suggesting that Liverpool are fast becoming the new Newcastle United and are living in the past. However, the change has been brought about to unify the club and get everyone moving in the same direction.
This was about finding a man who can unite this group of players and get everyone playing for the shirt, which has not been the case over the past 18 months.
During Rafa’s last season in charge, he seemed to have lost the support of some of his senior players, while Hodgson seemed to have lost all of the little support he had at the start. On the contrary, no one seems to object to Kenny’s appointment and he
appears to have everyone’s backing for now at least.
In fact, his appointment has a lot to do about exciting the Kop once again. Kenny is expected to be able to fill up those empty spaces and gaps in the stands that were witnessed towards the end of Roy Hodgson’s ill fated tenure.
Maybe fans would have forgiven a bad day or two at the office or a defeat here and there, but it were the uninspiring and annoying tactics that made them reach the decision to save their money and time and rather watch the game from the comfort of their
homes.
There has also been plenty of sympathy for the beleaguered Roy Hodgson but the fact of the matter is that he dug himself in to a deep hole, from which it became impossible to come out. Nothing was going to work for him; he had not only lost the support of
the fans but the players as well. It looked as if they did not wanted to play for him anymore; there was no desire or passion from the players even at the most testing of times.
All of this got to such a point that even if Roy had decided to amend his ways and correct his errors he would still have failed to win back the support of the fans, who simply had enough of him.
Last season, the incredible inconsistency and poor performances cost Rafa his job, but in truth he did manage to put some smiles on the faces of Liverpool fans even during the troubled season. Liverpool at that time managed to win some games in style and
the wins over Manchester United and Everton did relieve some of the agony.
The team was scoring a lot more goals then as compared to this season and their points tally was also much better at this point last season. This goes on to show the horrific football http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have played this season. 25 points from 20 games can’t be associated
to Liverpool football club, but would look reasonable when associated with Roy Hodgson.
Being an English manager he always had the support of the local media and as expectedly, the support of other under fire managers also. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier said the other day that its “brutal” to sack Roy Hodgson and that the mangers are left alone to face the
music after “losing a couple of games”. However, the problem at Liverpool was far from a “few losses”.
