cause shootin putin and his commie buddies wanna take control of those georgian provinces. They have had troops on the border waiting for this moment and wont pull out until they bully georgia into surrendering. Just a land grab by some crazy commies.

There is a long history of bitterness between Georgia and Russia.

After the Soviet Union split up back in 1992, Georgia claimed ports, bases (except for two bases that were still controlled by the Russians up until last year) and a huge portion of a oil pipeline. South Ossetia (split up some 70 years ago, thanks to Stalin) still had a huge portion of Russian supporting Ossetian citizens seeking independence from Georgia. Fighting broke out in 1992 which ended after Russia threatened to deal with Georgia "harshly" if they didn't agree to a cease fire. 16 years later---and after numerous attempts to circumvent a cease fire (not to mention a huge espionage case involving Russian officers back in 2006), fighting broke out once again.

This time I feel its going to get ugly.

Georgia used to be part of the Soviet Union.  Since they ceded from the union, along with a whole host of other countries...there has been alot of bitterness between them.  It doesn't help that Georgia has alot of resources that Russia would like to have again.

Because Georgia attacked Russian territory - South Ossetia. Read up on Georgians, yesterday they shot up a convoy of injured civilians that were being evacuated. They used overlapping missiles the first day to annihilate a large part of South Ossetia. Yea they're going to get attacked.
