  2. Did you know that for every keyword or search phrase, there are only about twenty one slots available for advertisers? If you have a product that you can sell to the world and it happens to be in a fairly competitive market, there may always be someone who can afford to pay more than you can to be seen in PPC ads.  If that is the case then you have to hope they run out of money before you go out of business from not selling any of your product.

    Let me explain it this way, for the top slot on Google Adwords for a keyword like "Attorney", you could pay $100.00 per click.  Imagine being a store owner, like Barnes & Noble and you have to pay the city government, $100.00 for everybody that walks through your door.  They haven't bought anything, and most of them won't, it just cost you that much for them to walk in.  Google says if 3 people out of a 100 actually buy something from you that is pretty good odds.

    If you can't afford to pay that fee but all the other store owners can, you're done.

    Now Search Engine Optimization on the other hand is how you can be seen seven days a week, twenty four hours per day, everyday of every year.  If the economy is up, you're there.  If the economy goes sideways, you're still there.

    You don't care how many times it takes your customers to come in look around before they actually buy anything. You don't care if they bring all their friends and click on the search results a thousand times.  On PPC if you are paying a premium every time someone clicks on your ad, if you get fifty lookers and nobody buys, and you can't afford to pay for any more ads that day, you're done.

  3. Because it is FREE. And free, in any language, is the best

    If you know how to do SEO properly, and keep tabs of what the search engines are doing by constantly reading blogs and forums, you can get huge amounts of traffic for FREE.

    And Google alone has the capability to bring massive amounts of traffic to a site that does SEO well. In fact, it is common to see Google bringing in as much as 50-80% of traffic to sites, for free.

    PPC is good for getting traffic through keywords you are not ranking well, or you want to be more competitive in. But it can get very expensive, and requires a lot of tweaking to work in terms of keyword management.

    Free vs. paid -- if you can get it by free, why not?
