  1. you wouldn't want a kid driving a car would you? they're not as matured as adults on making decisions on the road

  2. I think 16 is a little young to be driving. I see it on the news all the time where a teenage driver gets killed in a car accident. Maybe they need to hold on to their learners permit longer before the parents allow them to drive by themselves. Maybe let them get their learners at 15 and a restricted driver license at 17 and a regular driver license at 18.

  3. Yes the age limit should remain 16.  This allows the child living with parent or parents to have sometime to learn about responsibility of driving before they leave out on there own at 18. Some people think that if they wait till older such as 18 this will make them better drivers. That is crazy, the only way to become a better driver is experince. You get it by driving not getting older. It just happens that the more years you drive the older you get. Its called facts of life. lol. At 18 if they never drove they are still the same inexperienced driver as they are at 16. Yes there are more teenagers that die in car crashes than there are dying in any war, yet media says nothing about that. In other words if you raise the age limit you will just raise the age of death and Probably  increase statistics.

Some schools have drivers ED. I think this is where it should get a really good and in depth start to driving. But it doesn't because it  is all based on money not safety.  Sometimes I think safety is spelled REVENUE.The school offers you this class to receive money!! Your Parents want you to take it to save money!! on insurance. But it doesn't teach anything other than how to past your driving course for the test. They have all this time to teach yet they teach nothing of how to drive around other vehicles such as Big Trucks or simply interstates. These are just a couple of things that are totally different than driving around the neighborhood.

The parents should do a lot too. But they are busy trying to make a living, it gets hard but they need to make time. It is there childs life. The one they been protecting all these years, there is time just got to MAKE IT.

I could go on and on with a lot more but I hope it will help you get a start and know there are two sides to every story.

  4. by prolonging the age limit to say 20 then you still have inexpirienced drivers they are just 20 instead of 16 it only moves the deaths....

  5. Is anybody mature enough to understand that you are in a 2-4 thousand lb. weapon at 16 yet alone under that. Experience is an invaluable teacher and people need time to truly understand the responsibility of a drivers license.

  6. That is the legal age that they figuare a child of 16 can take on a big responsiblity, then a child that is younger. They figuare you will start driving with parents at 15, and drive on your own at 16, so that gives you plenty of time to grow out of the kiddie stage and start becoming an adult.

  7. So you can get to work when you start your first job at 16

Teach responsability at a younger age (this is a lie, but can turn it around)

  8. i do not no....... i mean people crash so  thats all i no....

  9. Sorry but I think it should be 18. I think kids loose focus in school once they can drive.

  10. Because 16 year olds can drive?

Hah - no idea I'm from the USA and it's 15 here....sooo yeah.

  11. I dont think that it should..............................

    MARCH 2008

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.

Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.

Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2002 (latest data available) the estimated economic cost of police-reported crashes involving drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 was $40.8 billion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA, http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov ).

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly.

In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens..............
