Why Spiegel newspaper calls saver of Jews a "despot" ??

The magazine isn't calling him a despot. They are reporting that many revere him as a progressive but that some University researchers disagree and accuse him of despotic behaviour like sentencing people to death by having them buried up to their necks in sand and stuff.

I think the article is presented without bias by der spiegel. Don't you?
