Why The U.S. Picks On Canada?

Now I'm American but I want to know why people make fun of Canada. Is there a reason behind it or something? Because I personally like Canada.

Americans make fun of every country. Canada is the closest, both geographically and culturally.

When you go out with your friends, do you sometimes play pranks on them, or say things as a joke just to get a laugh? For example, you may have a friend who is very stylish and only wears designer clothing, and you ask her "Did you get those pants at Target?" just to make her say "HEY! These are Prada!"

I think for the most part, the same is true of USA and Canada. We pick on each other and make jokes about our shortcomings, or focus attention on the differences, like accents, words we say (y'all vs eh), and government policies. But in the end we just like to "tease" each other and are actually good friends that can laugh about these things.

And like someone else mentioned, a lot of the comics in US movies and television have Canadian origins (Mike Myers, John Candy, Russell Peters, Dan Akroyd, Jim Carrey, Dave Foley, Lorne Michaels, Colin Mochrie, etc) so they will poke fun of stuff they know in Canada and know they can get a laugh about it in USA.

I think its because laws are more loose up there. Like they can have there tops off and can drink when they are 19. So its either we are jealous or they are s***s to us.

well I don't have an answer to your question really but I am Canadian and thanks for the positive comment! I don't know why either as we are  the same in many ways. By the way I like the US too-I go there as much as I can!

I used to make fun of Canada because I was stupid.  Now I would give anything to leave America and live in Canada.  We are Pompous and ignorant, and have superiority complexes.
