Why US and canada school lockers are different from each other?

okay, i notice that in the US, many high schools have like those 2 piece lockers, but what i notice in canada, alot of high schools have one piece lockers.

lol i know it's a stupid question, but it gets me wondering...

my school has both. the two piece lockers were added recently to accommodate for more students coming in. So, I'm guessing that's why many US schools have them, to fit more students.
