  1. I dunno.

  2. I really don't know what the difference between Hispanic and Latino is. And it seems to me that the peoples of central and South America call themselves one or the other. Not the people of the US.

  3. "Latino" is derived from "Latin American".

Latin America refers to Mexico, Central America, and South America... the nations where the primary language is a "Romance language" (a language descended from Latin).

  4. What?

  5. I don't know anyone who says "Latino" when they mean "American" as "Latino" means a Latin American resident of the US and is what they call themselves.  It has nothing to do with citizenship. I also have no idea what Caucasic or Comunist means.

Your additional comments are even more muddled. Perhaps you should go back to asking questions in the Spanish language forum.

  6. Come back when you can speak coherently enough to be understood.

  7. In the US it is a fad for minorities to make up names for themselves like African American, Latino and Hispanic.

Really, anyone who enjoys citizenship in the USA is a plain old American. The rest seem to have an identity crisis.

  8. ok

  9. Okay, Sparky. Try not to handle heavy machinery today.

  10. Because estadounidense just sounds weird in English. How would that translate? "United-Statesian?" Since we are the United States of America we call ourselves Americans. We refer to residents of Latin American countries as Latinos because it distinguishes them from us and it includes Brazil, where the main language is Portuguese.

  11. Latino is the term in the US for a person of Hispanic extraction who comes from or lives in an American country. I may be mistaken, but I believe the term is the desired choice of folks who fit into that general description.

An American includes latinos, native americans, African-americans, Canadians, caucasians, and anybody else living in these two continents.

  12. We say latino when we're referring to anyone from most of central and south america, as well as Cuba, etc.

  13. I'm from Barbados.. US people think that South America isn't their america so they can't call South Americans, American so they become Latino.

    Tough luck!
