  1. How do you even link the two topics?  the bomb was used to end a war that even after the bombs forces in Japan argued to continue the war.  The estimate is that 1 million american solders would have been killed or wounded if we tried to end the war by conventional means.

  2. We do care about peace. We had three bombs we could have used.  We could have dropped it on Tokyo, but we didn't.   I will never apologize for a action that we took to protect my country.  We didn't start that war, but by God we finished it.

  3. It ended the war now didn't it? D-bag.

  4. Not terribly familiar with the definition of war are you? Japan was offered a simple solution, unconditional surrender or annihilation. The leaders choose annihilation.

Invading Japan Home islands would have led to millions of american dead and millions of japanese dead. Instead we choose the shock and awe option, and two demonstrations of the power of the atom bomb were required to get their attention.

Given a choice, the japanese leadership would have fought to the last soldier and peasant.

Incidentally, you are aware they initiated the war with Pearl Harbor? The US was not going to let them off easy. Pearl Harbor was a brillant tactical move but an incredibly stupid stratigic move.

The US was born in war and has been at war almost continously since.

World peace is a myth, never has happened and never will. What it actually means is a world where trade and economic growth is possible, refer to merchantilism. No country wants "world peace'.

  5. The use of the atomic bomb is a non-issue. The number of Japanese killed by the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was about the same as the number of Chinese the Japanese were killing every month, so anything that would bring that war to a conclusion short of the total annihilation of the Japanese people is easily justifiable.

  6. They attacked us first, IDIOT!!!

  7. Your point is???

We used it and we learned from it.  Many if not most Muslim countries haven't learned squat and they are still trying to get that bomb to use on other countries.

You must be a liberal to not know the answer to that question.  It's a shame kid.

  8. So what would your solution have been? The costly and ghastly invasion of the Japanese Home Islands? Your comments mark you as a typical product of an American public school Education. Your ignorance of history is blinding. I suggest you try studying the whole war, not just the parts you can use to further a liberal political agenda.

  9. The atomic bomb was used to bring WWII to a quick end.

The Japanese armed forces at the time still operated under the bushido code - they would have literally fought to the last man rather than surrender.  It would have cost hundreds of thousands of lives on both sides.

While it was a terrible thing to do, dropping the atomic bombs ( there were 2 - Hiroshima and Nagasaki) resulted in enough of a shock effect that the emperor decided that Japan must surrender.

You may have a point if you used the Iraqi war as an example, though - there were no good reasons for going into that one.

  10. No matter how many times it's explained someone always seems to be incapable of getting it and tries to reinterpret history, unbelievable.
