  1. Venice was actually an experiment. I cant remember who but they pulled the land away from the main land and then also build some of the islands. But it was to see if it could be done. That is while the city is slowly sinking and may not be there in 100 years.

  2. The city is built on canals. Canals carry water.

  3. Why your head full of air?

  4. The city was built on the water.

  5. hey beautiful

i tryed ... i swera i tryed !!! but the kitchen tap would never get fixed !! at the end it all fell apart and the lap leaked more and more and then it overloaded the place.. everytime i asked someone to fix it for me they expected me to pay them????

its not like im asking them to do me a job its just fixing my tap !!! ppl hese days.. no morals !! lol

dont mind me im just going on and on and i dont know what im saying !!!

  6. according to the web site i found via a search engine, Venice Italy and New Orleans, LA US share a similar situation. Venice is built exactly at sea level (New Orleans is BELOW sea level) and according to the source, both are built on river sediments. In the case of Venice, the city is sinking, causing more and more water from the Mediterranean sea to rise.

  7. Actually Birmingham and Amsterdam have more canals than Venice.

  8. Venice was founded by local people who moved to islands in the lagoon for protection against invasions barbarians. The city is actually built on a number of islands, and therefore there's a lot of water.

In the late fall and winter, parts of the city flood when winds over the sea, ocean swell, and high tides combine. There are raised walkways in parts of the city for people to get around until the tides go back out. It's interesting to watch the water bubbling up from the drains in Piazza San Marco. On a couple of occassions over the past few years, I've seen the opposite effect - at extreme low tides with winds at sea blowing away, the water levels drop significantly and there's not much water in the canals.

  9. actually venice is not full of water.  its built over water.
