Why Vermont so liberal?

It is in mountain, agriculture area, but comparable with SF such liberal place. Why?

If a lot of blacks immigrant VT from DC, baltimore, detriot, chicago, make up over 50% pop are black, do you think the liberal rate will lower?

so english is your second language? The entire east coast is liberal. Both coasts are. Because we tend to continue education beyond high school, and we tend to travel outside the country more than the middle states do.

Why do people think VT is liberal?  Could someone define what a "liberal" means?  I'm not from Vermont but I used to live there about 20 years ago.  Do you think it's liberal because it elects US Senators like Pat Leahy or Bernie Sanders?  But they are not that liberal depending on your definition.  Do you think it's liberal since they were the first state to enact civil unions for same s*x couples?  That's not too liberal since they refused to enact g*y marriage laws.  Liberal since they voted for Obama?  There's a lot more liberal people than Obama.  Liberal since two towns in southern Vermont voted to have Bush and Cheney arrested for war crimes?  No. If you look into it, they've got some good reasons for that vote.  Actually I know a lot of very conservative people in Vermont.  I don't think it's liberal at all.
