there are some bad things about the country also:

its very dirty especially in rainning season

homeless follow you around until you give them something

people always try to rip you off, always try to over charge you

the police are very annoying, stop you and force you to pay a fine!

Why Vietnam, hummmm.  You have a pretty good list; but I'll include relatives, friends and a great time.  We go every summer for at least a month.  Cheers C

My two cousins and my aunt and uncle went to vietnam a few weeks ago and they came home early. they said they hated it and never wanted to go back. but i really want to go soon. maybe when im older.

Having lived in Ha Noi for 4 years, I concur!!! But better to live and work there than simply to go as a tourist!

My experience, over 4 years traveling throughout much of the country, was very different from DN's - never got hassels by the police, never paid a bribe, some poor people approached me, but that happens in the US, Europe, or where ever. And given that it is a "bargaining culture" if you get "ripped off", there is only one person to blame.
