  1. The atom bomb was dropped because Japan could not surrender as required by the Allied Forces. Firstly they had difficulty in finding Emperor Hirohito who was in a safe place away from the warfare and the records of his location had become outdated, secondly he was reluctant to sign the declaration because the honour of the Japanese nation was at stake but he was also not in control of the military and could not get them to agree because of communications difficulties. America could wait no longer and decided to end the stalemate with the second bomb dropped near Nagasaki and after that the declaration was signed
