Why Were People More Upset (Yes they were!) About Katrina Then...?

Why when we could all see how hurricane Katrina filled nearly the entire Gulf of Mexico & people really didn't try to get out... why were we more upset about those who perished at that time then we were when 9/11 happened? We couldn't see that coming. I just feel like if you have that much warning then why make it everyone else's priority to save your butt. Why not take action & save yourself? These bleeding heart liberals that all they want is for someone to take care of them. They will be the ones who vote obama bin biden!

I believe I speak for everyone when I reply, "Huh? People weren't upset about the 9/11 deaths? The incidents that caused a national trauma for days?"

People were upset about the government's slow response time to the hurricane. And some people couldn't afford to leave town and had no place to go, thanks in part to some bad planning.

You, my friend, are misguided and misled.  Transportation is hard in some of those areas hit by Katrina.  It is not like New York.  If you don't have a car, and you are poor, where are you going to go?  And we did receive ample warnings about 9/11 that were specific and did little to nothing about it.  Not to mention that many people forget that many historians believe that 9/11 like Pearl Harbor may have been a government tactic to get people angry enough to go to war and give up civil liberties for the profit and power of special interest groups, and because Bush needed something to push up his ratings.  I can send you evidence of this including the way the towers hit from the side fell straight down like a demolition, etc.  Not to mention that aid went straight to 9/11 and its victims, but Bush partied in Texas while tax paying Katrina victims tried to swim their way to safety for a week and a half.  The media thought it was more important for soldiers to guard spoiling food and shoot "looters" who were trying to survive on the spot rather than helping them to survive.  This is typical Republican behavior.  Shoot survivors of tragedy and hold them to a moral code you yourself don't live up to, take them out of context, and refuse to help them with their survival.  Selfishness does not make the world go 'round, it makes us all predator and prey.  Don't forget that.  Stop labeling people and start thinking.  WAKE UP!!!  The government exists to serve its people.  Many people living in parts of Louisiana hit by Katrina will tell you that the levies should have been fixed after many warnings that storms would come.  They were not fixed.  Louisiana brings enough money to the US to be a separate independent nation in and of itself, but a lot of the money it generates is used to make Texas where the Bushes live wealthier.  Not to mention that businesses have been trying to buy out the residents' lands for a long time, and with the help of fraudulent insurance companies refusing to pay people back and the feds and Red Cross asking people to prove occupancy when all their possessions were destroyed, well it has been hard for these people.  Families have been split up and people live in moldy trailers getting sick.  9/11 involved about 3 buildings and not entire areas.  Not to mention that Bush was too busy reading "My Pet Cat" upside down in a photo op with a kindergarten class on 9/11 and allowed the Bin Ladens and other Saudis to fly out of the country without being questioned when no one else could fly out.  And did I say that he was in Texas partying during Katrina?  I'm not a liberal.  I'm radical.

The answer is quite clear to me. Katrina had a failed do nothing Democrat Governor and a Democrat do nothing mayor. Blanco and Nagin.

This time, Governor Jindal (R) did his job and Nagin's too while Nagin was off partying at the convention.

The liberals have tried over and over to hang Katrina on Bush, but most intelligent folks know better.
