Why Am I ( A black woman) Considered to be white wash. I have heard this term all of my life. From what I understand, the term is used for black people who act white. In that definition alone I am lost. Is it because I listen to alternative and indie music? Is it because I say dude sometimes? Is it because I have some college under my belt and soon will have more?
Why Am I white washed. I have heard this from my own race..and from others on one or two occasions. It's like yes...I was showering this morning and saw the white body wash and black body wash, and I thought to myself let's go with the white today. I just don't understand. Maybe because my family isn't harvested from that ghetto mentality that "The Man" owes us. Truth be told the man (whoever he is) doesn't owe me a darn thing. I am in charge of my own future *** I believe every one else to be. Seriously..what makes me less black that my peers or predecessors? It's absolutely baffling to me. If it is because I am studious, and I crave knowledge then so be it. If it is because I yearn to ensure that my son will be more successful than the rest, so be it, But if it is simply because I am cut from a different cloth. I welcome the term. I am different. I love it!
( and please...if you are going to be rude..and ignorant...don't answer my question)
Thanks to all who reply!
