Question:

Why Would My Cat Do This?

I have several animals in our home and most of them do silly things. One day I was taking a shower and out of the corner of my eye I saw the shower curtain move slightly. I turned and saw that my oldest cat had climbed into the tub and was sitting there getting soaked by the spray! I was amazed and can't figure out why he would do this. He sat there for a few minutes and as I finished showering he finally climbed out as I toweled myself dry. He's never done that again and I wonder what got into him? Any ideas? Thanks!

  1. Kitty Dementia

  2. Most of my cats hate water, but my favorite cat that never leaves my side likes to shower with me at least once a week as odd as that sounds. She will climb into the shower and peek up at me looking to see what I am doing. She enjoys the water beating down on her back I guess. When we're done she hops in my lap and I wrap her in a towel and she goes to sleep.

Maybe your kitty was curios as to what you were doing.

    Kitties are strange creatures.

  3. well, chances are he just wanted to be near you. when i had my kitten (Mishique) and i'd bathe our dogs, she'd jump in the tub and sit at the end. i would laugh, and then she'd come rub all over me (i used to sit in the tub as i bathed the dogs because they were big) and then she'd sit under the running water with her head away from it, of course. the thing is, some cats love water and like getting baths and swimming. the other thing is, some cats like to be near their owners and the ones they loved the most. :). have fun with you kitty!!!!!! he loves you very much!!

another idea as to why he did that, is since he's the oldest one, he probably knows he's close to dying. and maybe sitting in the bathtub getting soaked while you shower was probably on his "To-Do List Before I Die." lol just kidding. :p.

  4. He loves you and wanted to be near you:). That would make me feel good. Obviously you're doing right by your kitty.

  5. Cat's (animals) do strange things to show they care about us. This seemed to be a display of emotion. Cats who live outside your home will sometimes bring a dead animal they have caught and leave it at the door you greet the cat the most at to show appreciation for the food and care you you give to them.

You should take that kindly - you have showed your cat how to care back for you as you do for him!
