Why a 12 year old deserves a cell phone?

well my sis is 12 and she really wants a cell phone she is always going tot he mall and going to the movies and party's she always has to use her friends cell phone i got one when i was 12 but i was making 49 $ a month so i was paying for the plan and some of the extras any ways i was looking for 5-20 resons why a 12 year old needs a cell phone

too young it gets you into trouble im 13 i gave my # to a 15 yr old guy its dangerous dont let her turn into someone like me...it only causes trouble....i txt my 15 yo BF about secretive things i dont want my rentz to see...dont be like me. and shes too young to go to the mall i go to the mall and meet up with older guys dont let her do that!!!

The only reason I can think of is for safety. As in, using it for emergencies only. Get her a TracFone first to see how she handles one. Here's the TracFone website:

If she does nicely with it, have her start earning money so she can chip in with a payment for a regular phone from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc.

Well, I think the best reasons to give your parents would be that she would be able to contact your parents if no one else had a cell phone and your parents would be able to check in on her by calling her when she is out.  If she says something like everyone else has one, then it just sounds envious more than anything.

As for paying for the plan, well, there's not much she can do about that unless she gets a job.  However, if your family has a family plan then it shouldn't be much more money per month.  And your parents could always make the plan so that she only gets a certain amount of minutes/texts per month so she won't create a huge bill every month.

she should get one u never now, once a cell phone saved a GIRL from sexual abuse and death. u wouldn't want that to happen to her no would u. get tmobile because u could actually minimize her minets online

I got mine at 11 becuase I had alot of after and before school activities, my parents are divorced and I got the tube to lots of places.

I HAVE A SON WHO IS 11 AND HE HAS ONE. HE TAKES IT ON SCHOOL TRIPS AND HE REALLY KEEPS UP WITH IT  WELL. HE PLAYS BASKETBALL AND IT CAN REALLY COME IN HANDY.

My first hp was back then when I was 14 I guess. Or 15...

My family has this rule, to switch off the cell phone when you're at home! It's not because we can't afford to pay, it's just habits! Because if it's emergency or if your friends want to contact you, always use the house phone! It's cheaper and safer - the radiation! Also, it saves the battery and when you go out, at least to say, if in case of emergency, it may save your or someone else's life. :)

My niece is 9 when she got her first cell phone. But my sis only allows her to bring when she has extra classes - Ballet , piano, tuitions, etc. She brings it out only if she were to go to these extra classes or goes for some friend's birthday party. So either party (her mom or herself) can contact each other easily. My sis limits the usage of course! And I find that really good. My niece is forbid to give out her cell phone number to her friends. Cell Phone is for her, it's for emergency not for chitchatting! Of course, the whole family has got her number and vice versa!

You have to set ground rule, like the usage limits and all. If she spends more than the limit, get her to pay! that's teaching her about responsibilities of having one.

Get her the cheapest set and plan. :) Set the rules! If your parents allow, let her get a job... That'll be good...

First, if she's going places, isn't it nice to be able to know you or your parents can check up on her whenever you want? Also, she can call if something's wrong. If she's at the movies and there is this creep there and she doesn't feel comfortable, she could call you and say, can you pick me up? Also, in this time, it's nice to let kids (like me, I'm 13) have a piece of tech that they can make their own. Something that means FUTURE and that she can personalize on her own, not something shared by the family.
