Question:

Why a Major League Baseball team would do well in Indianapolis?

A great city with a lot of room to build a beautiful stadium. A great family town that loves their Colts,a team that everyone said would fail here. A growing population with people from other cities moving in. Indiana is traditionally a basketball state but baseball is America's sport and there's no place more American than Indiana.

  1. I get the whole, "Chicago is so close to Indy" thing, but good grief, people!  I think MLB could totally be supported in IN.  They manage to handle the Colts (Chicago has the Bears) and the Pacers (anybody hear of the Bulls?).  I would love to have a team to go see as I can not abide the Cincinnati Reds, and I live in Northern KY.

I say it would be a great fit.

  2. Indy sounds like it would be a good 3 sport city (MLB, NBA, NFL) Problem is that you'd need a second city for the expansion. They can't have an odd number of teams. So if Indianapolis is home to the 31st MLB team, who would be home to the 32nd MLB team? I'm only guessing, but it seems 99% sure the last two would be AL since the NL already has 16 teams.

  3. I don't think it would work in Indianapolis. I'm sorry, but I just don't think so. Chicago is very close to Indianapolis, which means that a lot of the citizens in Indianapolis are either Cubs or White Sox fans.

Also, Major League Baseball doesn't hand out expansion teams like the NBA or NFL does.

  4. I don't know why there should be a team there, because you live near Chicago, and they have brilliant teams, Cubs for example good team to root for, but it's your choice, i would say your city will be fine without baseball team, just enjoy the locals you know..
