Why a cup of tea made from a tea pot is much nicer than from a cup?

There are two different ways in which you can make tea - by the pot or by the cup. The single most important thing to remember in all of this process is heat. The tea leafs impart their taste to the water most effectively when the water is actually boiling. To make really good tea you must go to every length possible to exclude coldness from the equation.

Tea made in the pot is (if done correctly) superior to tea made by the cup. This is partly because you should have access to better quality tea and partly because it avoids the difficult question of when to add the milk. (see below).

  1. Because as you pour from teapot to cup you get some air in it that helps to bring out the taste of the tea.

  2. Because it brews properly.

When you make it in a cup, you more often than not don't let it brew properly, because the bag makes it too strong, you therefore only get the colouring and not the flavour.

  3. Personally, I prefer tea made from leaves (or tea bags).

  4. does it?  pour me a cup and I'll judge?;)

  5. Because it has time to settle and collect certain properties inside the tea leaves.

  6. because its been left to brew

  7. The tea has time to settle and release the full flavour of the tea from the hot water in the teapot, so therefore you will get a much more genuine tea flavour than a simple quick cup.

  8. Probably psychological, but I aggree with you.

  9. the tea bag gets to move about more, if the pots hot and the water is stright from the kettle its even better. Is the molecules moving, the hotter the water the more they move. CRAMPED TEA BAG=BAD TEA    I prefer pg in a cup but tetley in a pot, give it a go!

  10. Tea leaves are better than bags but a compromise, for a cup, is a tea infuser in which you put the leaves and then leave that in the cup for a few minutes to brew..

  11. because its had time to brew

ie the tea leaves have had time to release the full flavour

  12. Because it reminds me of my childhood and of my Grandfather making us tea with sugar in it when my Granny's back was turned. He would still do it but she's caught on now!

  13. Brewing time.

bag in a cup doesn't have time to brew or "steep"

  14. Going the extra mile instead of using the short cut always makes someone feel specal. It gives the FEELING....Stay for awhile...which in the busy world we live in is refreshing. My hair stylist served me tea from a tea pot this past winter and I felt EXTRA special.

  15. Why does it taste nicer when drunk from a china mug/cup.

Even if it's made with a tbag in the cup.
