Accidents happen on the roads because that is where the cars are.  Very few happen in the fields where there are no cars.

At a T junction, after making sure there is no traffic to your left of right and the way is clear, you make a choice to turn one of the two directions, because if you go straight you will be in that field where there are few accidents.

At a T-junction the vehicle on the terminating road must give way even if a give way sign or a stop sign is not present
