  1. I have no clue.. i didn't know about this i will tell them to stop

  2. Rudeness is an American quality no matter what your ethnic background is.

  3. Ironically it's been my experience that people from other countries are actually very friendly to Americans but you wouldn't know it by what you read here on YA.  This is a perfect example of why believing generalizations and stereotypes is a mistake.

  4. If you're Latino, then I'll be glad to tell you that Black Americans and Latinos hang out together quite a bit down here in metro Atlanta.  I see this usually in restaurants, or at the movie theaters.  I'll be honest and tell you that different black cultures around the world typically don't like each other.  In Africa, there's a lot of ethnic division within each nation, so to hear that Africans don't like Black Americans really doesn't surprise me, or bother me.  Personally, I always thought that Black Americans had great friendships with Latinos in general.

  5. people from africa are more humble and don't suffer (with the exception of south africa) the oppression of the "white man"

  6. I always hesitate to answer questions on Yahoo! Answers having to do with race because it seems like it's so easy to offend these days. However I do have an idea as to why what you described may occur, and hopefully I'm not too off the mark.

I believe that perhaps this occurs because people from Africa have possibly met with less racism or stereotypes throughout their lives as Black Americans have, depending on the age they had when they migrated to the US. Although I have never been to Africa, what I have read and/or seen through media is a portrayal of more homogeneous groups of individuals. I know that Africa is home to many unique cultural groups, but in many (not all) parts of Africa the racial diversity is far less than that of the US.

In the case of the US, when many different races come together to live in one country sometimes hatred spurs from misunderstanding or fear. People from Africa that have moved to the US fairly recently may have been exposed to less of this fear and are therefore not as prone to have that same dislike when dealing with other races (Hispanics for example). Africans may also come from homes with stronger family ties than some of those in the US (Not just Black Americans but Americans in general) and those ties often create a self-confidence within the individual. People with self-confidence and self-love very seldom hate others, especially without reason.

Like I said, I could be wrong, but this is my opinion of why that behavior occurs.

  7. Due to peoples experiences with different ethnicitys, some people tend to hate others because of that poor experience !i

  8. My family is Nigerian and I can understand to the 'I don't like African-Americans' mentally [My Auntie just came to this country in March and has already made that same statement].

Africans are completely different. They still know where they come from and hold onto their heritage [it was stripped from African Americans during slavery], in Africa the cool kids are smart [with African Americans it is the reverse, smart= social suicide], and also in Africa there is a lot of religion, family ties, and respect for authority.

I know I for one can't stand the ghetto way they talk. To me it makes you sound uneducated and since every American is entitled free schooling, they have no honest to God reason to still be talking as if slavery just ended and they are just being properly schooled correct English.

Also Africans may be kinder because they don't have that resentment for having once been enslaved [well there ancestors at least] like African-Americans do. That only explains why Africans may be nicer to Caucasians... I have no idea why they are nicer to Hispanics than African Americans [In your experience].

  9. I do agree, I have a friend who is from Nigeria and he is the nicest and coolest person ever. He respects people and I enjoy having him as a friend. But I'm African American, and most of the other people at school are rude. The guys have no respect and the girls hate all of the time.

Not every person is like this, but a lot are.
