  1. Assuming the volume (space provided in a container) is constant and not changing,

    just imagine in one particular area, there are presence of these air molecules.

    In a high pressure area, it means there are concentrated or large amount of air molecules per unit area. Too much collision occurs at this area. Too much collision between molecules. As if the air could not move much since the space is limited (at a constant value).

    In a low pressure area, it means that the number of molecules per unit area is less or lower. Less collision occurs at this area, So as the collision between molecules. Therefore, there is a lot of empty space that is not occupied by the molecules since there is less molecules present.

    Therefore, WHY AIR dispersed from HIGH pressure to LOW pressure is because the air molecules at the high pressure are colliding so hard (as if they wanted to get out from there since space is too little)-(they are overloaded) till they get to another side of area (which is the low pressure area) till they get themselves equally balanced in terms of number of molecules per unit area. This means they get themselves in equilibrium state.


  2. It has to do with statistics. For a gas at a given temperature (mean molecular kinetic energy), pressure is proportional to the number of atoms per unit volume. If you have a room with 9000 randomly moving gas atoms on one side and 1000 atoms on the other and you waited for a time long compared to the transit time of an atom, then you will *probably* have *about* 5000 atoms on both sides, give or take. That means the pressure on both sides becomes the same. The more atoms you have, the more accurately the pressure becomes equal.
