So, during last week, I thoroughly searched for an airline ticket, cheap one, to fly from Atlanta to Chicago, nonstop roundtrip on a weekend (Friday night-to-Monday morning), I found the following :

(8 days before flight date)

Expedia : cheapest was around $430

Cheapair: around $360

airtran: around $320

(no southwest in Atlanta).

so i settled down for the $320 deal. thinking it's as cheap as it could get since i'm booking the ticket only 8 days ahead. (thinking i'm "late")

I checked today, (2 days ahead), to see how high are the prices got, and i was surprised (and mad) to see that :

for the very same flying scheduel, but only closer to date, flying after tomorrow (in 2 days):

on all websites : $230 plus minus $10 !!!

Could somebody please explain to me ? i thought i'd save if i booked ahead of time ! should i book 2-3days only ahead of time from now on ?

Thanks

Leo
