Why al of a sudden did i stop getting sound on my computer? ?

try reinstalling your drivers

The little X usually means the sound card drivers are not installed or have become corrupted.

If you go into Sound in the control panel it will probably say that the audio device can not be found.

Post the make and model of your computer (if a pre-built like HP, Dell, etc.) or the make and model of the sound card/motherboard if you built it yourself, as wells as the Operating system you are running, and we can help you find drivers.

If it is Windows Vista--32 Bit version

You can check which version by clicking the globe (start) | Control Panel and System.

Right click on "my computer", select "manage", and select "device manager". Look for the X or anything relating to audio, enable it.
