  1. We don't want to make a bad problem worse.

We would be REALLY happy to make Medicare and Medicaid go away too.

Just imagine living in  a country where you are not taxed to pay for the mistakes of others. Wouldn't that be nice?

  2. Exactly, it will just extend the existing arrangement for Americans.

  3. Yeah, and just as they exist now, they are on the verge of bankrupting this country... So yeah, making it even MORE of an economic burden on us is a REAL good idea.

  4. The problem here is that Most Americans (98% or more) have never lived where they had to rely on Social medicine.

I currently live in South Korea and I am here to tell you, the Social Medicine here SUCKS.

The Emergency room waits are three times longer and we are all crammed into one room.  So, I am there with my sick daughter, some dude with a missing foot, another guy with a six or seven inch gash in his arm, a score of sick people and a guy who hade burns on his body.  All of us sitting there staring at each other.  h**l, the second time I went to the ER here, a guy died two cots over from me.  In the ER, in front of everyone.

We don't want Social medicine.  I have seen how it works.  It sucks.  It will drive up our taxes, drive down the quality of our medical care and only the politicians get rich off of it.

  5. Only the rich should be entitled to healthcare - discuss.

  6. And those are working SOOOO well!!

How much is the current unfunded portion of those liabilities again? ~$50TRILLION?

And here I thought our $9trillion in debt was bad.

  7. Well medicare and medicaid cost over $5,500 per enrollee per year.

And they still must have supplimental insurance to cover the medicial bills.

Do that for the entire US

And your looking at 1.65 trillion dollars every year.

The entire 2008 Federal Budget was only 2.9 trillion.
