Princess Diana has long been dead...why is there still news on who her actual lover was, whether she was going to wed someone, and all? Can't the media just let her rest in peace?

  1. Look at all the speculation people STILL have regarding people who died under scandal.  Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, etc.  Decades later, we are still speculating about those two icons.  There is no denying that Princess Diana was an icon.  She was a really awesome lady (although I never thought much about it) but she was human.  It's that human, messy, flawed part that makes like so interesting. Heck, people are still speculating on the life and times of Queen Elizabeth!  HOW many movies have been made about the virgin queen?  Zillions!

  2. Because she is the people's Princess. she did alot for the royal family, for fashion and she did alot of help for red cross and AIDS awareness. and for landmines.

  3. She was very well-loved by millions of people. For them, it was like losing a family member, so they love to hear about her. And yes, I have to admit, I am one of those who feel this way.

  4. Because there is an inquest going on!!!

  5. Easy: media cashes on her memory, people who had met her on the opposite street and thus claim to be her best friends cash on her memory. She is a golden cow and everyone wants their slice of gold.

  6. Publicity grabbing twit.If she had worn her seat belt.

  7. What Topsy said.  It has taken 10 years for the British inquest to take place as they had to wait for the French to complete their investigation, inquest, etc.  So, because Diana remains a focus for the media (she sold mega-papers, etc.) they are reporting every last minute detail.  That's why the fuss, and no, as long as people keep buying the papers reporting on her, the media will not let her rest in peace.

  8. no, not when they have slow news weeks.

  9. No, the media can't. I mean - it's royalty, for goodness sakes! Until some other royal family member does something even more outrageous, or tragic, it will be Di all the time...

  10. She was a very charismatic figure whom a lot of people admired very much, and interest in her continues.  If a person is fascinating enough, people do not stop being interested in them just because they are dead.
