People have been pushing for alterative fuel, natrually the price of gas is going to go up. They say that all the gosoline burned is one of the leading causes of the green house effect. isn't hypocritcal of the media to focus on the high prices of gas. or is it that people don't want to worry about the concequences as long as they don't have to feel the pinch from all thier complaining

  1. I don't like high gas prices because I like to drive. I use to drive for hours on end without going no-place but now it is hard to do that.

  2. There are a lot of reasons for people to fuss over higher gas prices.  That is our #1 source of energy.

We rely on our gas vehicles to get us to work, to the store, to get us from one location to another.  Also, these vehicles provide warmth during winter, and cold air during summer... where bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles do not.  Hybrids and alternative fuel cars havent replaced the billions of gas-using vehicles.

We need oil to run a lot of factories/industries.  Without it, we wouldnt have things like your couch, your computer, and other things that require energy to make.

Also, when gas goes up in price... the economy is affected.  Transportating things like food make food prices increase to offset the increase in gas prices.

But salaries and wages are not increasing, so people are having to make limitations.  Many people are having to move in town, as opposed to living on the outskirts.  Some people are having to choose whether to buy food or gas (seriously...Ive seen it and the news has done reports on it).

We just havent learned to be gas/oil independent yet... if we were, we wouldnt have to worry about high gas prices and the effects they cause.  People who made liveable or below poverty income struggle more, mid class is even having to reduce travel.... unless your insanely rich-you may not feel the pinch.

  3. Well people never like high prices, but reality check - we've still got gas prices half as high as they have in Europe.  Americans are finallyl starting to get rid of their SUVs, drive smaller cars, look at alternative fuel vehicles, ride public transportation, etc.

It's inconvenient to have high gas prices so people complain, but in reality it's causing us to become more energy efficient and have a lower environmental impact.

Do something instead of complaining. Sign the petition.

  5. high gas prices have taken away some of your freedoms, admitt it or are you rich and don`t care

  6. the gas industry is a monopoly and they know people need gas. if they all agree to raise prices (which is illegal), thats such an easy way to make millions. as for global warming, it has nothing to do with it. countries that the gas is coming from like Iraq and Iran, have raised their price for the U.S. this caused airlines to be raised too.

this is getting so out of hand with the gas and stuff, its becoming ridiculous.

  7. High gas prices make me skinny.

    s***w driving, I'd rather ride a bicycle.

  8. why all the fuss? how about the price of EVERYTHING you buy goes up substantially, including things like milk, eggs, meat, vegetables, bread, cars, toys, in fact anything made from, made using, or transported by anything that uses fuel for power? as for global warming, that is a load of bravo sierra. if global warming was such a major problem, then why is europe building 40 new plants to convert coal to gasoline? why is china opening a new coal fired power plant every two weeks? energy independence that is why. we have the ability to make this country energy independent, but congress and the environmentalists are in the way of that. high fuel prices are hurting our economy, and if our economy goes down, it will take the rest of the worlds economy with it since most of the worlds economy is still tied to the US dollar.

    does that answer your question?

  9. well there was a time when the gov in australia tried to push for LPG fueled cars and tell the people to drive more of them. We know how crappy those cars are, the smell they emit, the danger of having compresed gass tanks under your car in an accident......

Fuel prices are so high because petrol companies made up a scare saying that it is very scarce. Honestly how many dinosaurs you reckon died? over hundreds and millions of years worth of dinosaurs to be burnt up in less then 100 years? h**l no!

  10. you have been listening to obama-bin-lyin again, also gore the bore, you obviously do not have to  purchase gasoline in order to survive.  the high cost is ruining our economy, and the obama and gore lovers think like you, good, keep the price high, less pollution,  however, it is hurting people whom unlike you, and by the way obama and gore also, have to commute to work for a living-that is the tragedy.

  11. We have an abundance of oil in the world, and are in no danger of running out so the price of gas is caused by something else.  That something else is that there are not nearly enough refineries to meet demand.  Oil must be refined into different products, the main one probablyis gasoline.  In a well-orchestrated scheme, the oil companies haven't built refineries in  any numbers in years.  What good is oil if it can't be refined?  What is being refined is now very valuable, so the cost has gone up a lot.  That, corruption, and market investors are to blame.

  12. so you want to pay for my gas???

  13. Your right that some people will cut back on driving and this will have a positive environmental effect.  The problem is it can be very detrimental to some sections of the economy and population.  Unpredictable and uncontrollable  price rises are usually not good.  We will shift more effort into alternative fuels and conservation.  However, now we may need to try to spread some economic relief to some econnomic and population sectors to keep the economy moving.  This is money that will not be used for development of alternative fuels, healthcare or something some other purpose.

This is a great example of why it is important to invest NOW to controlling emissions thought the use of new technologies, conservation, environmental management, and technology sharing programs.  If you wait until the problem develops, often it cost more to fix it.  We have been studying ways to diversify energy for years (hybrid cars; solar, wind, hydrogen nuclear power; biofuels).  Just think of the trouble we'd be in if the problem were completely ignored and we hadn't researched any of these alternatives.  We'd be in even worse shape.

Global warming can result in similar social welfare impacts on an even larger scale.  Doesn't it make sense to take some steps to reduce the impacts as much as possible as insurance?

The media just reports news and and some outlets the news they believe people want to hear about.  Don't think there is a conspiracy there. It is just information.  What you make of it depends on an individuals knowledge and biased.

  14. they should just take the subway and bus, geez

  15. Does your question have a point? If so, I haven't located it yet.

Please clear things up for me.

    You like high gas prices?

You think global warming is caused by low gas prices?

  16. I am actually happy that fuel is so expensive. I would actually like it to double in price. It would then force the consumer AND the manufacturer to have economical and environmental solutions to our transport issues. I read somewhere recently that due to the gas price increase Americans drove 4.5% less miles in March  than the previous March , that is 11 billion miles less. Just an incredible figure, I hate to think of the pollution involved, all the co2, and rubber from car tires etc. Just disgusts me. And people still talk about "going for a drive" as some sort of time filling exercise.

All the fuss over gas prices 'may' have something to do with Iran being a huge supplier of oil. And lets face it America no longer has the power to do anything about the Iranian thorn in it's side.
