Question:

Why all the fuss over one whale?

In Australia each year millions of cute, cuddly, harmless 4 day old calves are slaughtered. These are simply a byproduct of the dairy industry, cows dont give milk just because they are cows. The calves are taken from their mothers who will then call out for their lost calf for up to a week. The silence is deafening when it comes to the plight of these calves ( I suppose even do-gooders need to have their veal). In the USA it is much worse with calves housed in tiny pens with no access to iron in their diet so their meat is pure white, must taste better for the wealthy who can afford it. For some years we have taken these calves from dairy farms and reared them on the bucket and then sent them to market at 2yo, at least they had time to stop and smell the flowers before Macas gottem.

  1. Both case's are sad. You really can't compare the two. There are a lot less Whales in the world. Back to your statement. Most people either don't know, don't care, or just choose to block it out. Because it bothers them to think about it. So it's much easier to pretend it don't happen. For if they admit it. Then they have to make a change. And why should they have to alter their lifestyle for the sake of a animal they don't have to see.

  3. It is alarmism - Just like all the fuss over one degree.
