  1. yes it is the methane gas bubbles.

  2. The "bermuda triangle" or "devil's triangle" is a popular myth.  It does not exist in real life, and the number of accidents and "mysterious disappearances" is no greater there than anywhere else.

  3. Because it makes good TV. If you look at the stats more ships have disappeared in the great lakes then the Bermuda triangle.

  4. The Bermuda triangleis a myth.  There are dozens of different borders defined for it, and authors are changing the borders slightly every time something happens, to mention whatever accident it was in their book about the Bermuda Triangle.  There are no more accidents in the area than any other area of similar geoghraphy and weather.  (the guy above mentions methane gas from the seabed, that would be included in geoghraphy of the region)  All the stories about entire crews vanishing?  Made up.  The Bermuda Triangle is a myth.  Let move on to something more interesting, like Sasquatch or Nessie. . .

Was this helpful?  I. . . Um. . . cough, cough. . .could use. . .erm, best answer?  Please?

  5. Methane gas emissions from the sea bed... saw a documentary on it was pretty amazed at how practical that explanation is.
