Why all the talk about Heath Ledger winning a Oscar?

The only reason I feel there is because he is dead.Why hasn't anyone else won an Oscar from a super hero movie? Where is Jack Nickelsons Oscar at for being the ORIGNAL joker? Where is Danny Devitos? Spiderman crushed all the records with each movie, where is Toby Mcguires at? He is a dead drug addict who is going to win an Oscar.

I would first ask if you've actually SEEN The Dark Knight.

Regardless of the circumstances of his death, Ledger gave an Incredible performance. That would have been the case, even if he'd not died. The others you mentioned were all good performances, as well, but nowhere near the same calibur of Ledger's Joker.

Whether he is dead or alive the acting was superb and he deserves recognition for it. batman is c**p aside from his performance

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a drug addict.  And I think, at this point of the movie season, his performance stands out, and it'd even stand out if he were alive.  So as of now, I think he deserves a spot on the nomination list.  Winning it?  I don't know about that...we are heading into fall, where most Oscar contenders films come out.  One person I keep hearing about is how good James Franco is in a film called "Milk."  I hear he is excellent in that film.  Then there is another movie called "The Road" that is rumored to be "The Film" of the Oscar's.  I hear just about every performance in that film stands out.

So, basically, I think at this point Heath would deserve a nomination, but there are lots of films left, and I would hate to see a more deserving actor passed over just because Heath has passed away.

People feel he put his best into that role and I must say he went over top for it. I feel he deserves an Oscer for The Dark Knight. It would be an honor for him.

And for your information he was never a drug addict. They were prescribed med's from doctors. He had too much to live for including his daughter was everything to him. Why would be end his life when he has that?

Well, you have your opinion, as does everyone else. He is an excellent actor, in ALL of his movies. If people think he should win an oscar.. then he wins an oscar. It's what the people want, not just YOU.

I hope he does win one, he is a great actor.

As far as the other actors, they aren't that good.

This is so true! When he passed away I said he was for sure at least gonna be nominated....that's how it always happens! He's much more famous now....how often did you hear about him before??

HEATH LEDGER  was a teriffic actor. really used to give his best shots..........i think he should win a oscar. coz he was BRILLIANT.
