Question:

Why all this fuss about Rugby union?

After all nobody actually goes to a club match outside Wales (or Rugby league in the North of England... a variant of the game where the rules actually make sense).

It's a game for public school poofs....and I don't see why this minority sport should be dispoiling our television screens

  1. Hi Doc, It's cost me live coverage of the Italian F1 GP qualifying. With the over abundance of channels available you would think that this would not happen.

  2. A game for public school poofs...don't make me laugh you try playing a rugby match especially on there level for 80 Min's then see if you have the same opinion then...by the sound of it you would not last 5 minutes.

Stick to your needlework and be careful... all those pricks seem to be turning you into one.

    C'mon England!!  : )

  3. Strange that I support Harlequins (a 60 mile round trip), go to quite a few matches, home and away when I am not working. Play for a veterans team, coach youngsters in the local town and never went to Public School and my wife and three girls would certainley not say i was a poof.

Perhaps if you listened to the statistics and realised that there are over 90 IRB teams in the world competing for 4 years almost to get into the final few weeks of the tournament and that it is watched by millions of people all over the world then perhaps you would get an idea of the audience figures.

Finally it is a lot more better for people to play this sport than Football. They learn proper team discipline, leadership, the acceptable behaviour on the pitch in referance to attitude to Match officals, respect to each other as fans and it is a sport for all ages and abilities.

And if you think your so superior, try coming out onto the field with one of your local sides and play for a match, see how you find the experiance!

  4. No one goes to watch rugby league you say, well what were 23,000 + paying spectators doing at a rugby league match in Hull last Sunday. This was only a league match.

  5. never liked the game anyway?

  6. hi doc.

  7. How is it a game for upper class public school poofs - if working class welsh people are obsessed with it?

Every sport is a minority sport out side football...so why have any sport?

    Lets all be chavball fans?

    No thanks..

  8. Rugby Union is a game for heroes......you are obviously not one.

  9. Well the Rugby World Cup started last night,  the only ones who like it are the teams that are playing.

  10. What about those over-paid nancy-boys of football? You only have to touch one and he's writhing on the floor in agony (diddums). They also kiss each other and some even jump on top of each other after scoring a goal. I'd like to see how some of today's 'stars' would fare in a game against a team from the 60s with the rules of that era. I doubt they'd last to half time.

  11. I go to club matches, and im not even european. Then I play for the same club, the day after.

and the game is for private schools in fact. Public schoolers play either fagball (soccer) or padded fagball (football)

  12. What dimension do you live in?  Club Rugby in NZ is HUGE.  I am in Canada now and I live in one of the provinces where Rugby is probably least popular in Canada, and there are a whole lot of people turning out to watch club and High School games.

Don't even get into the comparison between Rugby and League.  When someone can explain what the heck the point of a League scrum is, then get back to me... and while you're at it, why is it that almost every dropped ball is called a knock on whether it goes backwards or not?

As for "dispoiling our television screens"... do you only have one channel?  Change the channel and watch something else, then you wont be so sad and have to come online to complain like an old lady on a talkback radio show.

  13. People are only talking about RUGBY cause the world cup is on i dont mind rugby but nothin beats FOOTBALL!!

CMON IRELAND WIN THE RUGBY WORLD CUP!!!!
