Why am I called a denier?

Please call be skeptic because I aint denieng the truth...... Skeptic because i'm skeptical of your myths. I find it more apropriate and less name calling then Denier

I will add my vote to those of the others who deny propaganda points and are skeptical of so called evidential facts that are diametrically opposed to all accepted scientific and historical evidence. I especially like the way 2B or not 2B phrased his definition of why we are skeptical deniers of voodoo science!

The reason they (meaning AGW proponents) call you a denier is to try and link you to the n**i deniers. Realize they only do this because they need to attack your character and not your ideas. They can not debate on facts, so they use intimidation and character assassination.

Do not give in. Know your facts and stand up for what you believe in.

A denier is someone who refuses to admit the truth or existence of sth.

A skeptic will doubt or question any accepted opinions.

There is an implication, being a denier, that you can't admit the truth.

Whereas if you are a skeptic, you are just questioning.

Methinks your type are labelled skeptics because others do not like these things called 'facts' getting in the way of their 'truths'.

Also, its easier to bulldoze a Prius out of the way than an Expedition

There have been some great answers so far, and some rather pathetic ones also.

I agree completely with you as to which I would prefer to be called, but the fact is that neither is correct.

We are neither deniers or skeptics (I'm not at least).

To be a denier implies that you refuse to accept the facts.

To be a skeptic implies that there may actually be some validity in the information, but would require further scrutiny before acceptance.

I do not feel that I fall under either term, since science speaks for itself.

I accept facts, unlike some misguided people.

I would rather be referred to as a realist, but that is not what the lunatics would ever consider, since that would imply that they were not living in the real world.

Their arrogance and lack(or misunderstanding) of true science could be laughable if it wasn't so serious.

There will always be a 'fringe element' which wishes to undermine society for what they believe is right.

There will be many more who will accept the propaganda simply because they wish to believe.

Knowledge or scientific facts are completely missed or ignored.

This subject is is now the greatest money making scam of all times, and will not go away (sadly) for a while yet.

These young healthy kids, seem to believe that everything will be 'fixed' if people just walk or use bicycles.

This shows their immaturity and selfishness, since many people(like me), are no longer fit enough to ride bikes or walk very far, and do not live in a city or close to work.

I think most of them have never had a proper job in their lives.

This will not alter their mentality until they get into the 'real world', and start finding out what life is really all about.

I also had some very misguided beliefs when I was younger which are embarrassing to me today and I would rather be able to forget about.

All I can say is for you to keep your 'thinking cap' intact, and treat any derogatory label given by the 'believers' as a sign of some basic intelligence.

Keep fighting for what is right!

Do not be too concerned about any 'label' that you are given.

Don't lose any sleep over it, if you are skeptical then that's okay.  You cannot allow others who think they know you define you.   You need to define yourself and forget what others say, their opinions are no more valuables then yours.

You're being called a denier because it would be an insult in skeptics to call you a skeptic.

We don't call those who think the Moon landing was hoaxed Apollo skeptics, nor do we call those who believe in special creation evolution skeptics, we also don't call those who don't think global warming is happening global warming skeptics for the exact same reasons.

Once you figure out why we reject 'skepticism' of the moon landings and evolution to the point at which we don't even call it that you'll start to see why you are referred to as a denialist.

Denier is a little name calling.  And it's hard to see why you are called a denier without knowing the context.  Which parts of scientists understanding of global warming are you skeptical of?

To properly be a called a denier, you need to deny the facts that have been collected (particularly if you don't have any counter-measurements).  A skeptic would look at the same facts and ask if there could be another reason for them.

Science is advanced by true skeptics.  Deniers try to stop science from advancing.

They call you a denier because THEY think your a nut who likes nothing than saying things that are obviously wrong just to cause chaos and trouble and your probably sponsored by Shell and affiliated with some kind of company that shoots rare eagles for fun.

Its a pretty harsh thing to call someone that thinks for himself and doesnt just take everything they are told on face value like some kind of mindless drone (its a sign of inteligence). Fact is denier is a bully tactic because your questioning something that fits with their world views i.e. man is bad, oil is bad etc...tends to come from environmentalists, though any true environmentalist should look at both sides of the argument as the rushed fixes to reduce co2 are the things that will end of damaging the environment! Biofuel is a good example of that

In the past it has always been the skeptics that revolutionised scientific views, some crazy skeptics questioned the world being flat, the sun revolving around the earth, one even had  the cheek to say god didnt make life on earth! Imagine if they never spoke up, we would still be in the middleages.

Be proud youra skeptic, because if no one questions the IPCC they will end up thinking there theory is right and that they are mightly gods that can control all man with their magic model projections and dont need to peer review there work

I was taught as school that oil would run out in 2006 - were they right? Nope but that was the concensus  back then. In 1975 all those clever scientists thought we were going into an iceage, they were right wernt they? Oh no ice outside my window I guess scientists can get it wrong! Then there was a millenium bug etc....Just pull out an old New Scientist mag and read through articles, many will now seem silly with hindsight

Dont worry about their non scientific bully tactics, they will eventualy shut up when they do a little moe research other than watching Al gores movie and the news

they can call me a skeptic or a denier, fact is I dont deny all of what they are saying, there is logic to some of it, I follow both sides of the argument and make my own choices.

I care for the environment so its not that I question the theory of AGW to destroy the earth! I do it because I think to much about things and I am driven by a continuous curiosity to understand everything around me

Many people do not or did not believe in Christ. They were called deniers.

Is this Global warming scare a new model of religion? If that is the case, then I am a denier of the new religion. The world will end for humans some day and THEN, God will destroy the earth, not humans.

The two words are a useful way of dividing up two groups of people who don't accept the mainstream view on global warming.

"Skeptics" accept the basic proven facts.  Richard Lindzen is a "skeptic". He's trying to make a scientific case (and admits he hasn't made it yet) that this will not be as bad as the mainstream view says it will be. He doesn't make silly claims like "CO2 doesn't cause warming" or "global warming ended in 1998" or "it's a myth" (when it's supported by most all scientists in the world) or "climate change happened naturally in the past, so this change must be natural".  

Silly stuff like that is said by deniers.  It's a useful distinction.  And you have control over which you are.

Crazy got it right.  They think they are cute linking all those who think America isn't responsible for all the world's problems with Holocaust deniers.  I have explained to Dana the scientific facts, yet he denies them and prefers to live in his leftist fantasies.  The holocaust was perpetrated by those with much more in common with the left.  For them to link skepticism of man-made harmful warming with killing Jews is offensive and despicable.  It is more proof that global warming is more about politics than science.  How else would I know that Bob, Dana, etc (sorry if I left some obvious examples out) are way out in the left field leftists.

Because people like Dana and Bob can't stand the fact that that someone dare dispute evidence they present with their own evidence that is as strong or stronger in opposition.  They're so ignorantly, arrogantly, and pathetically stuck in their ways, pardon the reference to the bad song, but blind themselves with science.  And by science, I mean their own breed of cherry picked information that tends to exclude anyone who makes a valid point on the other side.  I don't advocate taking a position on either side until thoroughly examining information presented by both sides because that's pure ignorance, but if you have, I commend you for not buckling to weak information and pressure given by political bullies and hacks such as them.

For example, you asked (insincerely) why CO2 is considered a threat.  I explained it to you, and you called me an idiot.  That's classic denial behavior.
