I'm starting my Freshmen year in High School and during the whole winter evenings I feel empty, depressed, sad, I've heard of the Winter Seasonal Changes but I don't know what to do. I'm not scared of High School, but the day before the first day of the school year is just empty. What can I do to stop this winter seasonal depression? If anything?

  1. There is a special light box you could buy to use for about a half hour to an hour each morning.  These are supposed to help with SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Try to spend some time outside each day when the sun is shining. We are kind of like plants.  We need the sun.   Keep lights on when it gets darker.  I think you feel empty the day before school because you know you are not going to have as much time for yourself anymore.  It's a let down when you have to start being on a regular schedule again.

I hope you will be feeling better.  Good Luck in school.

  2. ive heard of something like this, called seasonal mood disorder. but dont take my advice as im only saying this out of my mind, not the mind of a doctor. talk to a coucelor, you could just be dreading school.
