Question:

Why am I eating so much?

I have been eating non-stop. It seems I never get full!

I weigh about 128 lbs, 5'10'' and I'm 15 years old.

I don't want to say it's "because I'm a teenager" because it just recently started (2-3 days ago)

I don't think it's my period, but my period is really late.

I don't have any other odd symptoms, I just feel extra hungry all the time.

Anyone have any clues?

  1. You might be about to start. I have a few friends who eat like crazy a few days prior to their period.

If it's not that, are you sexually active? Exactly how late are you?

    EDIT:

If you're not sexually active then you're probably about to start your period then. Or maybe you're just going through a growth spurt? Since you're so tall and skinny you might just have a high metabolism.

  2. Just to clarify... is there any chance that you could be pregnant?

With a very late period and excessive hunger, this may be something to consider. Tiredness usually is a factor also, but not always. Same with nausea, not everyone experiences it.

If the answer is for certain - no - then I'm not sure... perhaps you haven't been eating enough recently and your body is trying to catch up??

    PART 2

Absolutely diabetes is likely... Top symptoms:

    excessive thirst and urination.

    excessive hunger

    lightheadness or feeling faint

    tiredness, fatigue, lethargy

a family history and you are still in the age for type 1 to show up.

you need to talk to your dad, right away.

  3. pregnancy?

    yeh it could be diabetes.

  4. Do you play sports or excersize alot? If you lead a very active lifestyle your body demands the fuel. And for your height you are quite thin, so I wouldnt worry about it.

  5. Ulcer? I could eat 2 whataburgers when I had an ulcer. Never before or since! No, it didn't ever make my stomach hurt. I just couldn't "fill up".

Any stress? Any worries? Often stress causes this, and nail biting..

Could easily be another growth spurt. Extra active lately?

If you aren't eating balanced meals, you're body will know it, and until you eat what IT needs, you will continue to be hungry. It knows if you didn't get... fruits, veges, fiber, carbs, protein, water (8 glasses a day)...  whatever you lack, it will keep you hungry until it gets it.

  6. Diabetics do tend to eat a lot and also drink a lot, especially water. I believe if I were you, I would have a check up by your Doctor. There are a lot of things that can cause your problem and the only true way to find out is by having some tests run. I wish for you the very best young lady and that you get some relief on what's causing you to eat like a horse. Good luck.

  7. I went to this website that I use because it has a Body Mass Index calculator, and I am diabetic so I check mine.  The chart is for people over 20, but even at that you can see that you're close to underweight.

Why not go to your doctor or at least start w/th school nurse and bring her this info.  I hope you get it checked out professionally, because the earlier, the easier.  :)
