Why am I gaining/not losing weight after losing 40 pounds? It's been 1 month now.

I lost 40 pounds in the last 5 months since March through exercise and eating right. My exercise consists mainly of cardio before. I just started lifting weights 3 weeks ago..

My suspect is that my muscle is building up.. I still do cardio though so I'm really confused.. I still want to lose another 40 pounds.. I do notice some cuts though and great improvement but I still wanted to lose the weight..

  1. Well what do you want??? If you want to loose weight, eat right,  do high reps low weight when you lift weights, you get cuts not big muscles, and do lots of cardio, lifting weights will make you gain some weight but its fine, muscle is better, don't worry about the weight give it another six months and you will be a beast

  2. I think you're right, you probably are building muscle and muscle weights more than fat, so even though you are getting leaner the scale may be creeping up.  Best thing to do in this case is to measure your body fat not the weight.  Also if your clothes are getting looser, you must be doing something right. :-)

  3. You have reached a plateau.  You need to change your routine a bit.

  4. you have to understand that muscle is heavier then fat ! And since you already lost 40 and that your starting to lift weights your gonna keep on gain weight. But its not bad weight, its good weight ( muscle not fat )

  5. Your body may be reacting and trying to conserve fat/weight since you are losing it fast. Mix up your routine, it should come off with a proper diet.
