Question:

Why am I getting a mailer-daemon when I try to post to a yahoo group?

As of today, each time I send a post to the yahoo group that I am the list-owner of, I am receiving a mailer-daemon saying that there has been an error and that my email was rejected because it appears to have a virus.

I am on aol, and have full virus protection. I ran a full scan with the latest MacAfee to be certain I am virus-free, yet this problem is persisting. I have never encountered this problem prior to today, but I've sent eight messages today at various times of day which are all being rejected.

I tried to get through by adding myself as a new member under a different screenname on this computer, but that did not allow the messages to go through either. My other emails to individuals and groups are being accepted, only the yahoo group posts are being rejected.

Is there a setting I need to change, or who do I contact for help?

Thanks for any advice!!

  1. It's caused by an interaction between Yahoo and AOL.  There are times when they just don't play nice with each other.  We have several members with AOL on my group who are bouncing because of the same reason for rejection.  They have reported it to Yahoo and Yahoo tells them it's an AOL problem. They then report it to AOL and AOL says that it's a Yahoo problem.  We have other members with AOL don't ever have a problem.  It seems to be random.

Would it be a problem for you to post your messages directly on the group's site?  There wouldn't be problems with mail servers that way.

You could contact your ISP and see what they say.

  2. I think it may be a possible glitch- others around yahoo have posted these same things. I have AOL as well but do not use their software for virus protection- you could also try sending from Yahoo mail to your group, or another same like free provider
