Why am I getting multiple browsers firing up for Yahoo search?

Hi - would appreciate help - My computer keeps firing up new browser windows connected to Yahoo search - bout 10 a min at mo - driving me mad - how do I stop it pls?

Yahoo sucks, same thing happens to me when I try to go to yahoo mail from the messenger.

I dont think there is a way to stop it, I use Firefox I dunno if it does it in IE
