Why am I getting pop ups?

My norton update thing says my system is ok and i've scaned plenty times, i have a firewall up and i still am getting them. Is it a toolbar or something that i need? Do i have a virus?

PLZ HELP OR ELSE I"M GOING TO BE GROUNDED FOREVER

Get threatfire and Avg antivirus, Norton is terrible. They are both free and should help.

Also, take a Hijack log and post it in a online tech site.

Okay calm down theres one thing you need to do DITCH NORTON it must be the worst anti virus program out there i had it and i was getting pop ups and sh*it then i deleted it and picked up Symantec Anti Virus and the pop ups stopped and i got rid of viruses way easier. just search it on google and make sure you DL from the real site.

Check add or remove programs.. if you see something you dont recognize, it could be spyware. There are names you can search for.. try searching for "spyware" on the web.. www.bleepingcomputer.com helped me when I had that problem.

Hope this helps and make sure you arent downloading any c**p because it could **** up the computer!!

Its probably something dodgy. What have you been upto ayy ;) downloading illegal software or the like.

Now trust me, solving these problems is usually a lot of hassle (i have tried to cleanup other peoples computers too many times - I work in a school IT dept!).

My best advice is to find the geek at your school and recruit him. He'll probably be eager to help as long as you treat him OK.

If all else fails, be honest with your parents like 'i'm really sorry but i busted your computer' trust me it usually earns you more brownie points than trying to cover it up, even if it doesn't get you completely off the hook.

maybe it's a trojan. they hide in your system and slowly infect it day by day. i suggest downloading a spyware blocker.

go to google and download google toolbar it has an inbuilt pop up blocker

not all pop ups can be stopped but it will stop the vast majority of them annoying pop ups

IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY DOWNLOADED SOMETHING MOST LIKELY THE POP-UPS CAME ALONG AS AN ADD ON.

SWEEP YOUR COMPUTER WITH SPYSWEEPER OR GO THROUGH YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM AND FIND THE CAUSE AND DELETE IT.
