Why am I having problems burning DVDs?

When I try to burn a DVD, it is telling me I am using the wrong disk. I am trying to use a DVD+R. What kind of disk am I supposed to use? I have a Dell inspiron 531s with windows XP.

  4. make sure that the disc u use is blank disc and the disk must be of 4.7GB, so make sure the data which you are going to burn should be of less than 4.7GB.
