Why am I hearing questions about school in August?

Not "back to school" questions.I am hearing kids saying that they don't want to go to school "tomorrow" the first type of question I heard was in mid August like around the 15th. How early does school start now? I don't mean college. Like 7th and 8th grade, when does school start now? When I went to school it ALWAYS started AFTER Labor day.

Here in North Carolina all school used to begin about August 25th, then they moved it back to starting around the 7th, then in the last 2 years moved it back to the 25th.

I'm in college now, and school just started today (the 25th), and so did my brother's and sister's (in elementary school), and my other 2 brothers' (in high school).

it all depends on where you live...

where i live we get out of school in mid June

and then go back after labor day weekend

but some places go back earlier because they get out in mid-May

so they have to go back in August
