Why am I jealous of someone I love?

Hi I'm Melissa. And I have a big favor for you. I want to know why I feel so jealous about my best friend having this other friend she calls a best friend. My best friends name is Linda. I have never been the type of person to be jealous of a best friend. But I hate it when she talks about her other best friend Mellisa. Yeah I know we have the same name spelled differently. I wish there was something I could do to stop being so jealous. I think its okay for my best friend Linda to have other friends so why am I so jealous when she talks about Mellisa? Is there anything I could do to change my feelings or avoid being so jealous?

You sound like the typical teenager.

Here's what you need to do:

Give her some space, and some time, and if you notice that she doesn't hang out with you as much anymore, then talk to her about it.

She talks about Mellisa so much because she's a new friend, and she wants to brag about her. No biggie. :)
