Why am I not getting a job?

Question

I have literally applied and sent my resume to more recruiters and companies than I ever have before and still no job...what's up?

I know everyone is quick to say the economy this and the economy that but I know there are still good employers who want good employees. I was told the job market was slow until about the fall...but d**n...many people comment about how impressive my background is but still to no avail is there a job offer or even a recruiters interview offer from their client...

there could be many factors that you cant see. your age, your s*x, and skin color. i know companies arent supposed to but there are lots of companies that have to have a "quota" of this age, this s*x, this color. they get a certain amount of "extra" money when they have minorities employed and when they meet the exact number of certain people. also, many comanies are in a hiring freeze and cant really accecpt anyone. you can try posting on monster.com jobing.com and careerbuilder.com all three are really good with finding positions that suit you. but good luck!!

i have found that most folks get jobs not by floating resumes -- but by networking -- let every one you know that you are looking for a job and what kind -- that is how you get the best leads!!!

You and a million others are in the same proverbial boat; a lot of folks are not being hired.  It is the economy that is making it hard to find a job.  The saying goes: "A recession means your neighbors are losing their jobs.  A depression is when YOU lose your job".  Your resume is probably impressive along with everyone else.  However, they can only hire a few people and 100 may apply than your chances are a c**p-shot.  I was unemployed after finishing school and I kept telling myself this mantra: "I will find a job, but just don't know when".  If I kept this in mind I didn't feel so discouraged.  Good luck!
