Question:

Why am I not getting any interviews?

It is frustrating that hiring managers/human resources don't call me for an interview. I apply for jobs that I qualify for and I've been told my resume is good. I also write good cover letters- I've read the books and done research on what should be said. I put an hour into applying for a Marketing Director position listed on Career Builder and even left a follow up phone call a week later. I don't understand how I don't even qualify for the first step- the interview! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated- especially from those of you resumes go to. What are you looking for and what stands out in an applicant?? Thanks!

  1. Jobs are few and far between, but applicants aren't.  Companies look for experience and education.  Making your letters and resumes look to book-like isn't a good thing, either.

  2. Thats just life Sir!

After I graduates. I sent out over 300 resumes and application in 2 months. got 5 call out of which 3 interviews and one face to face interview.

All i can say is keep trying. dont give up.......

  3. You should try monster also it better to have to sources where employers can find you. What stands out are your communication skills since its required a bit for your kind of employment

  4. Unfortunately there are probably a lot of marketing candidates out there right now.  I agree that it is so frustrating not to get interviews.  Have you gone to a staffing agency to look for temporary professional work?  Or a search firm might help you to identify if you are weak somewhere.

Get the first of the Five O'Clock Club books--it gives you a good system to follow to reduce the frustration.  Good luck.
