Okay. So I went to bed hungry, but I didn't eat anything. Then I slept for about 12 hours. However, when I woke up, I wasn't very hungry. Why is this? I just think it is odd.

  1. Because when you sleep your body renews itself and it's strength.

  2. i know - reall wierd isnt it! i have no idea!

dont listen to the person above!!  u burn calories all day long just through normal functions like sitting, lying etc..... and internal stuff too like breathing.

i read in loads of places u burn like 400 cals in ur sleep!!

  3. Your body doesn't burn many calories while you sleep cuz you're not doing anything. The burning is very very very low. So when you wake up you're not hungry. Also, the less you feed your body, the less it asks to eat.

Also, if you're doing something and you put all your energy into it, your stomach won't be hungry as fast. It's like ignoring the hungry feeling. If you're doing nothing, your stomach tends to get hungry faster.

Finally, some people get hungry faster in the morning. Others don't. I eat a lot in the morning. I eat like every 2 hours. Then by the afternoon, i can wait as long as 5-6 hours to eat.

Actually if you sleep for a short time, like 12pm-5am, you might still not be hungry. Cuz your body isn't used to eating at 5am.
