Why am I not receiving any input from my DVD player through the component hookups?

I just bought a 32" Vizio LCD tv, and a brand new DVD player. I hooked them up with component cables according to both manuals, and I am recieving the 'no signal' error no matter what I do. The Vizio website didn't help at all, and neither did the DVD player website. Is it the tv? Please help!!!

  1. Make sure that you are matching up all of the colors. Make sure that you are going from the Output in the DVD player, to the Input in your TV. Make sure that you have your TV on the proper channel.

  2. Make sure you have the proper input selected on the TV and that you are not trying to set a resolution any higher than 480p on the player.

If it is an up converting DVD player or BlueRay, you have to use HDMI (or DVI) to be able to use 720p or 1080i (or p).

  3. the dvd comes set up for video in (yellow cable) you need to hook it up to video in and switch it over to componet then re hook it up to the componet in , or you could read the spanish novel that came with the DVD about a guy named Manuel!

  4. component from dvd out green, blue, red (video) to component on tv in. check the input that you are connecting to on the tv and change the source or input on the tv that you connected to on the back of the tv. and don't forget the audio cables.
