Why am I receiving bills from Columbia House and I'm only a minor?

Okay, so I turned 13 four months ago, and I've never even heard of Columbia House. What is it, and why are they sending me bills for something I've never bought. They say they sell DVD's or something. I got charged 5 dollars for the account and 3 dollars for a late fee. They said they sent the stuff before I got the bill, but I never got any DVD's or anything! Please someone help me stop them from sending me bills!

  1. Talk to your parents.

Columbia House is a long term purchase agreement.  One starts by ordering 5 DVDs for 49 cents plus postage and then has a commitment to buy x DVDs for $23 each over the next 12-24 months.

As a minor you did not have the legal ability to sign such a contract, but someone apparently did.  The DVDs would have been mailed to the same address the bill was sent to, so who in your family has new DVDs?

  2. you might want to contact their office or ask your parents to help you get it straightened out.

  3. Talk to your parents, and ask them to help get it straightened out.

Sounds like somebody signed up in your name.
